About Us

Our Story

Pure Yichun Chen is the Founder of Pure ArtLab, an avid Art Collector, and the Co-Founder of SAM ART SG Fund. SAM ART SG Fund was created to acquire artworks by Leading and Emerging Artists at the International Art Fair to become part of Singapore Art Museum’s (SAM’s) Permanent Collection. Pure Yichun Chen received the Friend of the Arts Award in 2025 from the National Arts Council (NAC) for her contributions.

Originally from the fashion industry, our founder has found the best way to enable students to truly portray their thoughts, impressions, and reactions to their surroundings is to create an environment for free and open expression while providing foundational instruction in Painting, Drawing, Sculpture, and Art Appreciation / History.

Paying homage to her Grandmother, our Founder wishes to provide her students with an everlasting Gift of Creativity to be utilized in whatever way the student wishes in the future.

Pure ArtLab’s students have received offers from such prestigious institutions as: California College of the Arts (CCA), Carnegie Mellon, NTU, NYU, Parsons, Pratt, SAIC, Central St. Martins College of Art, and UCLA etc.

Pure ArtLab has now evolved into an Art Platform that nurtures Young Artists, enables international interaction between Artists and Cultures, and contributes to the Cultural Ecosystem; inclusive of Museums, Galleries, Artists, and Collectors.

Our Approach

In our classes, we engage the child in activities that stimulate and sharpen their senses through observation, interaction, and play. We exercise the children’s motor skills, social engagement (with their environment and peers) and hone their analytical abilities. We encourage the child to trust their intuition and develop confidence to observe, respond, imagine, experiment, improvise, share and articulate their thoughts and thereby develop their ability to make decisions, solve problems, and think independently.

We hope our students experience art making as an enjoyable and liberating process, and attempt to expand each student’s understanding and appreciation of art (visual anthropology) through the introduction of notable artists across genres, thereby allowing them to gain an appreciation of aesthetics and refinement.

Our Teachers

Our teachers all have experience teaching at leading art institutions and are practicing artists or art industry professionals. We are careful to select based on subject expertise as well as approach to teaching.
